Pianist, composer, and vocalist Liz Sinn has performed extensively across New England’s jazz and contemporary music scenes, and has become an in-demand collaborator known for her versatility and distinct artistic voice. Her music draws from jazz, pop, classical, South Indian Carnatic konnakol, Brazilian, and Latin American traditions, reflecting both her formal training and her lifelong interest in cultural exploration as a first-generation American. Her performance credits include Birdland Jazz Club, Bimhuis, Disneyland (Los Angeles), Ravinia Festival, and the Newton Piano Summit, and she frequently travels between coasts to collaborate and perform with a wide range of artists, including GRAMMY Award-winner Neal Smith, Charlie Rosen’s GRAMMY Award-winning 8-Bit Big Band, Il Divo, Chloë Agnew (of Celtic Woman), Bill Pierce, Carl Allen, and Rafael Barata. As an arranger and copyist, she has also worked with internationally acclaimed Latin American artists Andrés Cepeda and Daymé Arocena.

Liz developed her approach to composition early, beginning at age nine and deepening through her jazz studies in high school and beyond. Her Chinese heritage and classical upbringing continue to inform an intensity and focus that shape her musical voice, as well as her ongoing exploration of identity through sound.

Within her ensembles, Liz emphasizes collective improvisation, fluid roles, and arrangements that leave space for spontaneous interaction. Her performances balance structure and openness, inviting listeners into the unfolding logic of the music. Although formally trained as a pianist, she has counted singing as an essential part of her musical identity since childhood, treating her voice on stage as an integrated part of the ensemble—moving fluidly between lead melodies, scatting, and improvised vocal lines that interact directly with the band, often in dialogue with the piano and other instruments.
